How to use shopExact, it's easy and intuitive!

Hi everyone - lets go through an example of how to use shopExact and compare a Clothes Washer to "Best in Class":

  1. Here is the a Whirlpool front loader clothes washer purchased in 2004:
  2. The model number is inside the door on the top left and easy to read: Whirlpool - GHW9150PW0
  3. Now lets enter into shopExact and see what we get:
    • shopExact tells you the annual water and utility cost of the clothes washer;  for this unit the total energy cost is $143 per year.  Using your zip code to estimate utility and water costs.
    • shopExact tells you if your clothes washer is ENERGY STAR rated and if it is super efficient.
    • We also show that after 7 years the average repair bill due to part failure is $250.
    • Therefore the total estimated cost for the remaining life of the clothes washer, including potential repair bill is: $822 compared to $352 for Best in Class.
  4. shopExact then gives you a recommendation relative to a price scale.  We tell you if you have done a great job and have an ultra efficient low annual cost appliance, or let you know that a new unit will pay for itself in a few years.  Either way shopExact gives you an unbiased recommendation.
  5. You can now decide to replace your clothes washer and shop for a new appliance or keep you current unit for more years.
  6. You can also type in newer appliances from shopping sites or local appliance ads to see if they are close to best in class -- way cool!
Give shopExact a try - and stay tuned for cool stuff coming like our own shopping site so you can shop for and compare new appliances.
